Integrated Circuits and Systems (ICS) 

Welcome to the Integrated Circuits and Systems (ICS) group at the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (SEECS), National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), established in 2021. Our mission is to foster the development of integrated circuit (IC) design ecosystems within Pakistan, inspired by the transformative impact of semiconductor electronics in the mid-20th century. The global IC industry commands a valuation exceeding $600 billion USD, highlighting its central role in modern economies and technologies. 

The ICS group at NUST SEECS is dedicated to nurturing Pakistan's capabilities in IC design through focused postgraduate (MS and PhD) academic programs, integration of ICS courses in UG program in Electrical Engineering, research laboratories, and a fabless chip design center, offering specialized IC design training. Our efforts aim to equip students and researchers with the skills needed to thrive in the dynamic field of IC design.

One of our milestone achievements is the development of NTiny-E, Pakistan’s inaugural indigenous RISC-V microprocessor, fabricated using 65 nm technology at the prestigious Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Ltd (TSMC). NTiny-E represents a significant stride towards indigenous semiconductor innovation and self-reliance.
